Prada wants to go green The Group has announced an eco-friendly plan for 2016

We feel it is our responsibility to adopt and promote virtuous behavior, to contribute to the sustainable development of our company and to be an example of best practices within our sector”.

This is the sentence which opens the Safeguarding the environment section of the new website created to promote the activities of the Prada Group.

The company of Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli aims at a green future and couldn’t choose a better moment to present its new project: on December 7 and 8 Paris has been the protagonist of the COP21, the conference dedicated to the fight against the climatic changes of the world, in which every country has presented its plan to save the planet.

According to the information published on the website, between 2013 and 2014 the Prada Group has allowed a 6% reduction in overall CO2 emissions, has replaced a total of 3.800 fluorescent bulbs with LED lighting, has continued the replacement of cooling and heating systems with next generation ones, has improved the recycling process of its products and has reduced the impact of its packaging, preferring recycled paper and eco-friendly materials.

Prada’s commitment has certainly found a breeding ground in the fashion business: brands like Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood have been fighting against climate change and the planet’s safeguard for a long time now, exploiting their shows to sensitize the fashion audience against the waste of resources.

Prada has always been an example of altruism and good behaviour in the Italian landscape. We just hope that the engagement of the Group towards the environment will soon become a universally shared value as well.
