Happy Birthday, Leonardo Di Caprio!
5 things you didn't know about the actor
November 11th, 2015
Five Oscar nominations, but no one won, 10 Golden Globe nominations and a spectacular career. Leonardo DiCaprio has a lot to celebrate. He has worked with the biggest: from Robert De Niro to Martin Scorsese, from Quentin Tarantino to Baz Luhrmann.
"What's eating Gilbert Grape", "Romeo + Juliet", "Titanic", "The Departed" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" are just some of the movies in which he starred, revealing an extraordinary talent.
Extremely courted, he has collected a series of flirts, including one with Rihanna, and lots of girlfriends, all blondes and models, preferably from Victoria's Secret.
Same baby face and sly look of his debut in the late 80s, the one that filled the walls of each teenager’s bedroom in the 90s, Di Caprio seems to never age. But the boy has grown up and today he turned 41.
At nss we’re celebrating him by telling you some things that perhaps you didn’t know about him. Happy Birthday, Leo!
#1 Leonardo like Da Vinci. His mother decided to call him Leonardo because the first time she felt a kick in her belly was during a visit to the Uffizi Museum in Florence in front of a picture of the author’s Mona Lisa. His second name? Wilhelm.
#2 Ever heard of "Pussy Posse"? In the 90s Leonardo with his friends Lukas Haas, Tobey Maguire, Harmony Korine and David Blaine founded a crew. The sole purpose was to go around parties and bars looking for women. Today, 20 years later, nothing has changed, except that he orders the girls directly from the catalog of Victoria's Secret or he looks for them on Tinder.
#3 He was a dancer. He once told so to British magazine Shortlist: “Before becoming an actor, I was a dancer breakdance, I danced in the streets of my neighborhood. Once I even won an award in Germany thanks to my moves”. See "The Wolf of Wall Street".
#4 He has a doppelganger. His name is Konrad Annerud, 21 year-old, he’s a Swedish bartender, has an Instagram account with over 165.000 followers, and is identical to the young DiCaprio.
#5 Leo has a big heart. Despite his reputation as stingy, that never leaves the tip to the waiter, DiCaprio gives millions to charity. In 2009 he and Kate Winslet paid the fees for the nursing home for the last survivor of the Titanic tragedy, in 2010 he donated a million dollars to save the tigers, in 2014 he gave 3 millions to save the ocean wildlife and in 2013 61.000 dollars to support gay rights.
Not enough? Here’s more curiosities for you: he survived a shark attack and survived miraculously to an accident while he was skydiving, he owns a brand of fair trade coffee, speaks German fluently, when he was a boy he didn’t want to walk on the cracks of sidewalks, he’s a big fan of "Jersey Shore" and he’ s an obstinate smoker (many scenes of his films in which he holds a cigarette are true).
