Raf Simons exits Dior
The French house is looking for a substitute
October 22nd, 2015
A memorable event has just entered the pages of fashion history: Raf Simons exits Dior. A shocking news which makes us think over how the glossy world of fashion is able to fake, and hide even such deep malaises.
Raf Simons reached the highest creative position at Dior in April 2012, after the scandal which involved the eclectic John Galliano outside a Parisian bar. Since that moment the Maison went in a more essential and modernist direction, bringing Dior back to its pure and refined elegance.
In an official communication the designer attributed his decision to personal matters: “It is after careful and long consideration that I have decided to leave my position as creative director of Christian Dior’s women’s collection. It is a decision based entirely and equally on my desire to focus on other interests in my life, including my own brand, and the passions that drive me outside my work. Christian Dior is an extraordinary company, and it has been an immense privilege to write a few pages of this magnificent book”.
It’s the second time in quite a short period that the French Maison has to face unexpected and clamorous exits. Now the question is just one: who’s gonna Raf’s substitute at the helm of the House? All bets are open.
