Valentino presents Valentino Donna
watch the trailer by Louis Garrel
October 1st, 2015
There’s a new feminine fragrance at Valentino’s, and it’s ready to steal your heart.
It’s Valentino Donna, an object able to communicate its essence at first sight: the glass surface is cut in prisms, which appear like studs but could also be the ashlar masonry of an Italian palazzo; the pale pink liquid inside it contrasts this rigid armour conveying an idea of elegance and grace.
They are the same characteristics of the Valentino woman, muse of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli: lightness, fragility, irreverence and candor, which emerge in this sensual and independent personality.
The two creative directors identified these qualities in the woman chosen to embody the spirit of this fragrance: 29-year-old Spanish-French actress Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey. In the video that comes with the launch of the perfume the girl is portrayed by Steven Meisel and directed by Louis Garrel while she walks around the streets of Rome at night.
Valentino’s Rome is not monumental: it is a complex, angular, surprising and modernist city, as if filtered through a cinéma vérité lens. Astrid is the perfect protagonist of this paiting, with her classic features and intense look.
The fragrance seals the poetry of the moment. Perfumers Sonia Constant and Antoine Maisondieu imagined a scent which seems to have always existed, exquisite and timeless: rose essence and notes of bergamot, intense tones of leather and sweet notes of patchouli and vanilla. A Couture fragrance.
