Yeezy Season 2's Anatomy

Yeezy Season 2's Anatomy Mind, Eyes, Heart

In front of Anna Wintour sitting next to the little North West and to a list of celebrities from Riccardo Tisci to Debbie Harry, from Courtney Love to Jaden Smith, Kanye West proposes the same scenery of the past season.

The show is for the second time directed by Vanessa Beecroft, who continues her exploration of the military theme.

The models, professional and amateurs, move like a streetwear army, monochromatically divided to recreate a scale of beige and nudes.

Style remains unchanged: the mood is post apocalyptic, a choice that has created several parodies on the web, in which Yeezy is compared to The Walking Dead or Star Wars.

The collection is made of deconstructed clothes, layered, unisex, in cotton and canvas. Tights are still the protagonists, completed by hoodies, oversized coats and tank tops. The palette includes shades of sand, olive, gray and light beige.

Another similarity? At the end of the show Mr. West launched his new single "Fade" featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Post Malone, anticipation of his next album "Swish", based on samples of classic house music pieces like "Can You Feel It" by Mr. Fingers or " Deep Inside" by Harddrive.

Everything remains the same, yet different.

HEART/ART

The models march on the runway, arranged in rows. First there are the blonds with white skin and light clothes, then the colours gradually get darker. Beige, khaki, brown and black create a sort of painting, as stated by Kanye himself on Vogue.com: "It 's just a painting, realized using clothes as a canvas".

But it’s inevitable to see in this structure a metaphor of the racial issue, as confirmed by Dazed & Confused: "It’s hard not to read into the choreography of the show as West’s personal piece of social commentary. The blackest of black people enslaved. The whitest of white people following orders like minions. And in between, dissidents flouting the rules”.
