Chanel VS Met Gala
Karl Lagerfeld's Seoul Chanel show goes head to head with the Met Ball
January 30th, 2015
Chanel against Met Gala. Karl Lagerfeld against Anna Wintour.
If last year the French maison had to show the Mètiers d'Art collection on the same day of the Victoria's Secret's angels, forcing legions of models to choose one of the two stages, this time will have to deal with the prestigious Metropolitan museum ball.
Initially Chanel had chosen to present the Cruise 2016 on May 11, in Korea, in Seoul at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, designed by Zaha Hadid, but the proximity with the presentation of Dior on May 9 in Los Angeles, has forced the brand to opt for the first week of the month.
Chanel, with a statement to WWD, excuses in this way: " Chanel is very much dedicated to supporting the Anna Wintour Costume Institute Benefit this year as we always have. We greatly respect the incredible contributions Anna Wintour and The Metropolitan Museum of Art have made toward the preservation, education and celebration of the art of fashion, and are proud to be a supporter of this important institution
Which side will line fashion editors and fashionistas around the world? To show their loyalty? A Mr. Lagerfeld or Mrs. Wintour? We should wait a few months to find out.
