Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture FW14
July 9th, 2014
Russia, the elegance of tsarinas and Klimt.
Maison Martin Margiela continues its philosophy of "Artisanal", recovering and reinterpreting fabrics and shapes. Vintage and new pieces blend together once again for a couture collection that declines the patchwork in luxurious version. The Belgian brand seeks out the hidden beauty and brings it to the surface, gives it to fashion and made precious creations having different inspirations, origins and facets.
Each item is a parallel universe in which live bright 50s bombers, Paul Poiret, Line Vautrin jewelry, fur inlays, brocades. Each look is the place where classicism and exoticism get married. It's a limbo in which white shirt and camel coat alternate with an object surreal as the bustier-lobster tribute to Elsa Schiaparelli.
Margiela either love or hate. His fashion is not easy, even when pushes on the trend of one-shoulder dresses and monoleg. His style, like the models on the catwalk, has the face covered by valuable masks. It takes courage and commitment, requires a careful look, the one that manages to find intelligence behind originality.
