Alexander Wang brings Balenciaga back in a small coastal town in Spain, home of its founder Cristobal. The American designer takes inspiration from the sea, from the sailing world to create the new resort collection of French fashion house. The whole proposal revolves around the idea of architecture at 360 °, while maintaining the simple elegance of the brand, developing new cuts and shapes, with a predilection for asymmetry and flowing lines.
Structures and objects typical of the sport of sailing in the hands of Wang undergo a sophisticated chic and minimal turn. The canvas become skirts and bags, the net is an ornament, the triangular shape of the sails is imitated from jackets and tops with asymmetrical hems, while galoshes and fishermen raincoats now become preppy rubber boots and cool pvc coats.
