Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture SS14
The collector's collection
January 26th, 2014
It can come only want to go on a long trip, maybe in the East, why not looking for something unique and valuable. Even if we would realize that none of what we'll be ever so cleverly repurposed , so expertly edited and researched , as only the Margiela team can do.
As in a laboratory the aim is always the same , to experiment, always with the desire to amaze, that desire to turn what you tap into a work of art. Mysterious figures from the hidden face have sailed the catwalk showing a presentation of ornaments context and returned to life.
Anachronistic and eclectic, consisting of stories and build matched with bright colors and fabrics, the collection draws on oriental rugs and geometric prints from the strong appeal seventies. A dazzling satin gold boot incorporates the sleeves of coats in contrast to the rows of shiny pants, all adorned with precious details. A mixture of past and present.
Because the Margiela's woman is also this year a chameleon day daring, wearing pants and skirts, while the sun goes down we find it wrapped in a blaze of embroidery and tattoos.
And what else, if not a magic wand, could transform the top of Sailor Jerry in a wonderful top ?
This collection as usual manages to surprise and unsettle, leaving us in the balance between security and the surprise of seeing definitely something unforgettable, the collection of a collector.
