Xiao Li - Space fabric

Xiao Li, Chinese designer of 26 years old, with a diploma at the London Royal College of Art in her pocket is a talent on the rise and also the winner of the Diesel Award of this year.

Her style is romanticand at the same time, futuristic features oversize volumes and pastel colors, from pink to blue, through yellow and wisteria. Li explores materials, mixes them together, silicone and cotton tricot, thus creating geometric effects and architectural shapes influenced by the work of Balenciaga in the 60s and by her love for the three dimensionality. The young designer wants to find a new and innovative way to present the knitwear, without sacrificing portability, and it succeeds, creating a collection of high-impact, combining delicacy and softness with exaggerated silhouettes, creativity and experimentation with fit.

Xiao Li wears the future, learning from the past the importance of balance, the knowledge of fitting each element in the right place to create a piece of dream to wear.
