How did the launch party of the new adidas Superstar by Rose Villain?
The three-striped brand celebrated the new sneaker in an exclusive event

March 25th, 2025
There are sneakers so iconic they transcend eras and generations, never losing relevance or appeal: the adidas Superstar is undoubtedly one of them. First introduced in 1969 as a basketball shoe, the Superstar quickly captured the collective imagination far beyond the hardwood courts, becoming in the '90s a timeless symbol of American hip-hop subcultures and, more broadly, a true style statement. Its silhouette is instantly recognizable, capable of evoking a sense of authenticity and belonging in those who wear it. It’s no surprise then that today, more than half a century later, this sneaker continues to reinvent itself without ever losing its soul. The latest reinterpretation is signed by Rose Villain, one of the most compelling and stylistically distinctive artists in the contemporary Italian music scene. As a testament to the strong bond with adidas Originals, Rose unveiled on Thursday 20th in Milan a super exclusive and custom-made version of the Superstar, in an intimate and exclusive event. The presentation took place in the evocative setting of Mariencò, a cozy and sophisticated space that served as the perfect backdrop for the debut of this special edition.
The fully customized sneaker stands out thanks to its bold design and ruin-style finish that runs across the entire surface, giving it a worn-in, almost post-apocalyptic allure that mirrors the artist’s visual and narrative aesthetic. Thick laces further enhance its bold character, while the side features the inscription “Trust Issue” — a phrase Rose has made her own, perfectly encapsulating her artistic approach: raw, emotional, and powerful. This choice speaks volumes about her, her uncompromising attitude, and the strength that resonates through her lyrics and the way she presents herself to the public. The cocktail served at the launch was designed to reflect Rose’s unique aesthetic: a gothic-Japanese blend that fused dark elements with oriental influences, creating an immersive atmosphere that conveyed the artist’s identity in every detail. Around her, her closest circle: friends, collaborators, creatives, and peers. Among artists such as Hell Raton and Aurora Leone, talent including Valeria Angione, Gabriele Anakin, Luca Buttiglieri, Pierpaolo Petrelli, Sally Cruz, and many others, but also friends and collaborators such as Attilio Cusani, the Warner Music label and Me Next who work with her and support her in her artistic journey. The evening paid tribute not only to a legendary sneaker but also to the genuine bond between fashion and music, a connection that adidas continues to emphasize year after year as a cornerstone of the brand.
