From shadow to light in Courrèges' SS25 campaign
The collection presented last September keeps on shining
February 17th, 2025
Last September, Nicolas Di Felice, during Paris Fashion Week, suspended time within the cold and austere setting of Carreau du Temple by presenting the Courrèges SS25 collection. Today, even though we left the cultural center weeks ago, the French house plunges us back into this collection—or rather, this ode to progress, experimental fashion, and innovation—through a new campaign where light takes center stage. While the runway show unfolded progressively, beginning with the imposing silhouette of a cocoon coat that gradually decomposed and opened, ending with more revealing and confident looks, the campaign, though more static, still manages to convey this idea of progression, cycle, and renewal that gave its full meaning to last autumn’s presentation.
The contrast between the black outfits and the white backdrop, with sun rays almost as dazzling as the pieces themselves, is precisely what brings the campaign to life. Against this immaculate background and embraced by this light, the silhouettes—from trench coats to bandeau tops and summery dresses—exude an almost angelic aura. The SS25 ready-to-wear campaign proves that a great collection doesn't need artifice, an elaborate set, or grand staging to shine and capture attention. The campaign’s minimalist approach is in perfect harmony with the collection’s simple yet effective essence, always avant-garde and futuristic without veering into the bizarre. Looking at these images, one thought comes to mind: we can’t wait for the next collection.
