Louis Vuitton joins forces with the École du Louvre to pass on its expertise
Becoming the institution's first sponsor

Fashion, like any respectable discipline, is meant to be passed down. If we want French craftsmanship to endure for generations to come, finding the right teachers is essential. That’s why Louis Vuitton has chosen not to gatekeep, joining forces with the École du Louvre and offering eight scholarships to a few lucky individuals who dream of working in fashion and learning it in the best possible way. These eight scholarships will support an in-depth analysis of the French Maison through a comprehensive study of its collections and craftsmanship. But what does the Louvre have to do with all this? It hosts its own school, a public institution affiliated with the French Ministry of Culture, dedicated to the history of art, culture, and pedagogical methods aimed at preserving and promoting heritage. This location was not chosen at random by Louis Vuitton, which has made it a habit to set up its shows in the museum’s courtyard, as was the case just a few weeks ago for the FW25 menswear collection show.
With this initiative, Louis Vuitton becomes the first luxury house to act as a patron of the school. In addition to funding scholarships for eight students over three years, the brand will also support research grants for two PhD students whose work explores themes related to the history of Louis Vuitton and its collections. It is also sponsoring six additional residency grants, awarded to undergraduate or master’s students from diverse backgrounds. Of course, this is not the first time LVMH has embarked on such a project. In 2014, the group launched its Métiers d’Excellence program, a training initiative covering more than 280 skilled trades across six industry sectors. The Louvre Museum, meanwhile, continues to draw closer to the fashion world. On January 24, it hosted its very first fashion exhibition, Louvre Couture: Art and Fashion - Exceptional Pieces, exploring the connection between fashion and the museum’s collections.
