This is a Balenciaga Campaign by Juergen Teller
In which Paris is the shy muse of Demna and the German photographer
December 10th, 2024
If last week Demna’s iPhone, his finger over the lens, and a fitting studio were the ingredients of Balenciaga’s highly successful Pre-Fall 2025 campaign, this week's campaign, on the other hand, is content with a chair and a small stretch of a Parisian street. The French house has just released This is a Balenciaga Campaign by Juergen Teller, a series of photos accompanied by a video co-created by Juergen Teller and his wife and creative partner, where they chat about their work and creative process, exploring the act of creation as a source of conceptual inspiration. Among the key figures in the campaign are Olympic medalist shooter Kim Ye-Ji, alongside athlete and model Romeo Beckham, singer Kim Petras, and models Sua Lee, Khadim Sock, and Akolde Meen, sitting or reclining on pieces carefully selected from Demna's personal collection. Beyond paying tribute to couture and its customs, the campaign is above all an open love letter to Paris and the inspiration it brings to its artists.
The pieces in the collection, meanwhile, are primarily a love letter to Demna's fashion enthusiasts: the Hampton Carry All – a spacious structured boxwood leather bag with a decorative flap inspired by Bel Air; the Rodeo Tote, featuring a turn-lock closure; and the Hourglass Pochette – a compact version of the Hourglass bag, a signature of the House. Also showcased are the Rodeo Top Handle, a new iteration of the Rodeo crafted from soft matte calfskin with versatile closures for multiple styling options, the City Bag, and the Bel Air Bag. Following collaborations with Marc Jacobs, Céline, Yves Saint Laurent, and Vivienne Westwood, this first Juergen Teller campaign for Balenciaga perfectly blends urban and wild, fashion and photography, popular culture that entertains and popular culture that simply aims to soften the heart of those who pay it a little attention.
