On the occasion of Loro Piana's centenary, this November the maison brings the magic of the holiday season to Harrods with Workshop of Wonders. A takeover of the iconic Brompton Road facade and a full thirty-six windows along with various interior spaces are adorned with installations reflecting the enchanted world of the brand’s fibers, fabrics, and artisanal craftsmanship. A visual journey retraces the story of Loro Piana, from the transport of the soft raw fiber to the skilled hands that transform it into fabric, leading up to the creation of a towering seventeen-meter Christmas tree decorated with unique fabric scraps. Each window tells a different story, narrating the journey from distant lands where raw materials are born to Quarona, the heart of Loro Piana's savoir-faire. The setup, enriched with fantastic details, invites spectators into a dreamlike world where time seems suspended, evoking the elegance of the 1920s and the craftsmanship of past eras.
Within this setting, Workshop of Wonders honors the tradition and innovation of Loro Piana through a sophisticated, nostalgic aesthetic. With moving sets reminiscent of a puppet theater, the installations showcase the artisanal process, revealing to the public the beauty of the manual work behind every Loro Piana creation. Hand-painted puppets and soft cashmere clouds animate the windows, providing a captivating display for both children and adults. The journey unfolds among stories of the production of fine fabrics, such as Baby Cashmere and The Gift of Kings®, which travel from Australia and Mongolia to Italy to become key components of Loro Piana’s luxury items, perfect to wear or gift during the holiday season. The brand’s garments and accessories resonate with the holiday spirit, enveloping visitors in a warm, intimate atmosphere, accentuated by muted gold tones and warm hues that reflect the classic palette of the Maison.
In this celebration that combines history and craftsmanship, Loro Piana goes beyond aesthetics to offer an immersive and interactive experience for the public. At pop-ups in Door 6 and Door 9, visitors can explore the world of the Maison up close, with areas dedicated to embroidered scarves and customizable Christmas decorations that visitors can create by hand through a workshop. The maison has also thought of the little ones, opening a newborn temporary pop-in and a permanent boutique. In addition to home items from the Interiors line, Loro Piana also presents artisanal plush toys and board games at Harrods, reinterpreting the concept of luxury in an atmosphere blending tradition and modernity. This Christmas, Loro Piana's takeover at Harrods, Workshop of Wonders, is a poetic celebration of the maison’s centennial history, welcoming the world inside London’s most famous shopping mall and carrying a message of timeless beauty and artisanal perfection.
