Fashion Graduate Italia is shifting the spotlight on emerging talent
The event dedicated to young fashion students is back
October 22nd, 2024
From October 22 to 24, 2024, Fashion Graduate Italia returns, an event that, over the past ten years, has stood out as the first fashion week open to the city and exclusively dedicated to new fashion talents. Organized by Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS with the support of the Lombardy Region and under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, this edition takes the title Eyes Wide Open. The name represents an invitation to look at the world with an authentic and conscious gaze, ready to embrace change and the future. As every year, the main goal of the event is the promotion of Italian fashion schools, their creativity, and know-how. It is not just a celebration of craftsmanship, ETS explains in the press release related to the show: FGI aims to connect education and the professional world, offering young designers the opportunity to engage directly with the challenges of the global market. In this context, the project Talent to Talent was created in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan as part of the City to City program to showcase the creations of students from some of the most prestigious fashion universities worldwide. This year, the spotlight will be on Chicago, Melbourne, and Shanghai.
FGI will be opened by BigMama, who has been actively involved in social causes for years through campaigns supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. BigMama will meet event participants along with Wad from Radio Deejay and stylist Azazel during a talk that will explore the role of inclusivity and politics in creativity. In addition to the talk and the student runway show, FGI has organized activities such as the portfolio review, attended by companies searching for new talents, and the launch of the CFMI Academy project, promoted by the Florence Center for Italian Fashion to provide practical tools for students looking to develop entrepreneurial projects in the fashion sector. The event extends beyond Italian borders, including the participation of thirteen international universities, among which (in addition to Chicago, Melbourne, and Shanghai) are Osaka, São Paulo, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur. In an increasingly connected world, FGI encourages students, companies, and entrepreneurs seeking talented creatives to open their eyes and turn every challenge into a new opportunity.
