October 15th, 2024
On October 14, 2024, Vestiaire Collective celebrates its 15th anniversary. The global platform, known for luxury and second-hand designer items, has decided to thank its community by launching a series of exclusive offers. Since its founding in 2009, with an initial catalog of 3,000 pre-loved items sourced from friends’ and family members’ wardrobes, Vestiaire Collective has become a reference point for fashion lovers seeking vintage and unique pieces. These items, considered great deals at the time, helped define the platform’s identity and success. To mark this milestone, on October 15 Vestiaire Collective will offer a special sale: over 250 iconic pieces will be available for less than 15 euros, including 15 rare items valued at 1,000 euros each. The selection will include timeless garments, re-editions of historic models, vintage rarities, and the latest trends, with brands such as Gucci, Burberry, Chloé, and many others. The “15th Birthday Drops” will be available globally on the platform starting from 12:00 PM on October 15, with selected items available for purchase worldwide. Highlighted items include Fendi’s Baguette bag, Dior’s Saddle bag with a belt, a Bottega Veneta clutch, and Louis Vuitton’s Neverfull tote.
Over the course of its 15 years, Vestiaire Collective has sought to promote change in how fashion is consumed, focusing on sustainability and responsibility. The company has relied on core values such as trust, fashion, community, and impact. It has developed a global team of over 100 professionals dedicated to authenticating items, trained at the Vestiaire Collective Anti-counterfeiting Academy, to ensure high product standards. Since June 2021, the platform has partnered with 12 luxury brands and retailers, offering over 100,000 items from its official partners. With 12 million items sold since its founding, Vestiaire Collective has contributed to reducing first-hand purchases and cutting CO₂ emissions by about 300,000 tons, equivalent to driving around the world 35,000 times in an average car. The platform’s global community has grown significantly, from just 4% international users in 2009 to 88% in 70 countries by 2024. In the United States, interest in second-hand items has led to an annual average growth of 60% in new buyers since 2019. Vestiaire Collective therefore celebrates not only an anniversary but also a journey that has influenced the way luxury fashion is perceived and experienced, with a focus on sustainability, authenticity, and a sense of community.
