Ten years of style, comfort and responsible innovation
April 17th, 2024
Keen is a footwear brand born in the United States in 2003 to provide shoes and sandals perfect for any outdoor activity, from city walks to the most challenging hiking trails, from beach outings to water sports. The brand was founded on principles primarily related to comfort and well-being of the body, connection with nature, promotion of an active lifestyle, and respect for the environment. In this perspective, all of Keen's projects come to life only after deep research on material recycling and eco-friendly production practices. Over the years, Keen has refined its designs by adding new styles and refined silhouettes, demonstrating the ability to combine elegance, outdoor style, and the spirit of adventure. This year, the brand celebrates the ten years of Uneek, the sandal-sneaker with original design and unmatched comfort.
Born in 2014, Uneek is a sandal-sneaker made only from two cords and a sole. The upper weaving forms a unique design following a patented system called "Interlocking Cord System", which easily adapts to the shape of the foot. The cords are made from recycled PET, while the sole, made of non-slip and flexible rubber, utilises blades to improve grip on wet terrain. With this design, Keen has revolutionised the way shoes are made, offering footwear ideal for those seeking a unique style without compromising comfort. Thanks to the studies of the innovation director Rory Fuerst Jr., the sandal-sneaker has introduced new standards for the industry, leading the brand to collect awards worldwide. Since its market launch, Uneek has taken on new forms in collaboration with established institutions in the fashion world, such as .END, Mita Sneakers, SNS, and OnlyNY, becoming even more of a protagonist in street style.
