Kanye West stars in the new Y/Project lookbook
Together with Glenn Martens' father, Mia Khalifa and Irina Shayk
March 12th, 2024
Instead of the scheduled show on March 3rd, Y/PROJECT released a FW24 lookbook. It's not just any collection, but a project celebrating the ten years of creative direction by Glenn Martens, a milestone that makes the new designs even more relevant in the brand's stylistic landscape. An homage to the designer's past works and a hint of what's to come, Y/PROJECT's FW24 presentation features international figures from the music, sports, and art scenes, including Kanye West, Charli XCX, Mia Khalifa, and Irina Shayk. Despite the cancellation of the show at Paris Fashion Week being a strategic choice by the company to deal with what it has termed "uncertain times," the media impact of the new lookbook managed to make itself noticed.
According to Y/PROJECT's FW24, next autumn jackets will be worn folded on themselves, rolled up, buttoned around the neck and hips in an unusual manner. Glenn Martens has added hoods, pockets, and width to plaid shirts, elongated the double-breasted sheepskin jackets, mixed textures, played with denim washing and cutting, and inserted sharp graphics alongside light and transparent volumes. Among the prominent faces of the new lookbook are, besides the better-known Kanye and Tyga, also Mel Ottenberg, editor-in-chief of Interview Magazine, Elodie Ouedraogo, Olympic gold-winning hurdler, Olivier Zahm, co-founder of Purple magazine, and Natasha Poly, top model.
