Maison Margiela and Samsung sign a collaborative smartphone

Samsung Electronics and Maison Margiela have announced their second collaboration, following the success of last year's, unveiling a special edition of the Galaxy Z Flip5. The project blends fashion and technology, treating the high-tech device like the construction of high-fashion garments, encouraging consumers to freely express their identity. Samsung's expertise in foldable devices and Maison Margiela's sophisticated, unstructured design come together in this collaboration, reflecting a common mindset.  The Galaxy Z Flip, which winks at the flip phones of the early 2000s, features a glass design on the back that reveals the inner details of a Maison Margiela jacket with silver and metallic effects. This semi-transparent effect not only offers style, but also embodies Maison Margiela's design philosophy.

The Flap Leather Case completes the work with Maison Margiela's craftsmanship, using natural black leather, woven fabric and fabric logo tags. The stitching made on the back of the case echoes the brand's 'Work-in-Progress' idea. The Flipsuit Case, featuring Flipsuit Cards with a paint splash design and a silver plate, transforms the theme of the device when attached to the Z Flip5, inspired by Maison Margiela's Artisanal collection. The packaging reflects Maison Margiela's style, with distinct stitching and a woven paper fabric reminiscent of sample storage in ateliers. The entire presentation seamlessly integrates the device with Maison Margiela's atelier, emphasizing the collaboration's unique fusion of fashion and technology.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 Maison Margiela Edition will be available at selected retailers starting Nov. 30.
