What went down at Kappa Rugby Pub
A Link Between Communities, Celebrating the Diversity of Rugby in Paris
October 11th, 2023
In collaboration with Fitzroy and Super Vision Office, Kappa took the initiative to organize Kappa Rugby Pub, a concept divided into two events aimed at bringing together the rugby community in Paris while shedding light on topics that may be less explored in the context of sports.
On Tuesday, October 4th, Kappa Rugby Pub hosted a workshop on rugby jersey design with young players from Stade Français. With the assistance of the Kappa team, they had the opportunity to work on creating their own personalized jerseys. Following this, Flavie Boiteux led a discussion on the role of adapted rugby in our society, bringing together David Romero, president of the FCG chair, Sophia Azzi from the JO 2024 Rugby chair, and Ryadh Sallem, a striker on the French national team and a triple European wheelchair rugby champion. The day concluded with a cocktail reception in a private room, with a guest list full of Kappa team members, rugby players and content creators, and the new Kappa Rugby Pub jerseys were proudly displayed and worn by the guests.
The second day of Kappa Rugby Pub, on Friday, October 6th, featured another talk, this time focused on the women's side of rugby, with Guillaume Berten, president of Chilly Mazarin Rugby, and two players from SF Paris, Coumba Diallo and Esther Fabre. Together, and under the attentive ear of the audience, they explored the journeys of the players, their personal experiences, and their feelings about the sport. The crowd gathered public figures like radio hosts, YouTubers as well as rugby players and many rugby enthusiasts. All of this was followed by a live broadcast of the decisive France vs Italy match, which sparked widespread joy when France secured victory and a spot in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. The rugby game offered the opportunity to the guests to be around regular clients to provide a most immersive experience. Ending the night in a joyful mood, the event felt like an authentic celebration of the sport, and all guests went back home with tote bags that included many goodies and even included the pink, teal, and navy Kappa Rugby Pub polo jersey.
