JW Anderson and Michael Clark's subversive fashion
A new fluorescent collaboration celebrates the past of the two creatives
August 25th, 2023
World renowned Scottish dancer and choreographer Michael Clark's collaboration with JW Anderson, first shown during London Fashion Week FW23, has just landed in stores. The capsule collection tells, on ready-to-wear garments, bags and accessories, a daring story full of personality that unites the stylistic codes of Clark and Anderson in an ironic way - as is the style of both creatives. From Clark's graphics to the fluorescent logo, the artist's iconic signature, tank tops, sweatshirts and baseball caps become statement pieces with an eccentric soul.
JW Anderson's collection made the two creatives' archives meet in a harmonious way, selecting some past elements from the brand's and Clark's productions. Just as the Scottish artist's works take a close look at the world of ballet, the queer community and fashion, Jonathan Anderson has taken the more contradictory themes from his past collections and imagined them in a contemporary context. "Witch?", "Sham Man" and "The Dentist" are the titles that can be read on the outfits of this collab, proof of the minimal yet subversive success of this partnership. The collection is available from 25 August on JW Adnerson's website and in stores in Soho, London, and Milan.
