Uniqlo to launch partnership with the Opéra Garnier in Paris
Celebrating the reopening of a flagship store in the French capital
August 21st, 2023
On 15 September, a date which for Uniqlo also marks the official launch of the capsule collection created by designer Clare Waight Keller under the brand name UNIQLO:C, the Japanese minimal and technical clothing brand will reopen a flagship store in Paris. The opening will feature an anticipated collaboration with the British creative director, as well as the launch of a special partnership with the Paris Opéra, whose building is located right next to the upcoming Uniqlo reopening. For the brand's CEO, Taku Morikawa, working together with a historic institution like the Opéra is not only a profitable project for the company, but also an opportunity to promote the arts. With this partnership, Uniqlo will offer its support to the theatre company's My First Time at the Opéra project, an initiative that allows families with children to attend shows such as Cinderella and Don Quixote, scheduled for this season, through dedicated discounts.
«We are happy to seal a partnership with our neighbor, Paris Opéra, an institution that we have been watching with admiration for years and with which we continue our approach to make art ever more accessible,» said Morikawa. To celebrate the partnership with the Opéra, Uniqlo has shot a campaign picturing some of the company's dancers in the Opéra spaces. The 15 September opening of Uniqlo will be part of the Paris Fashion Week calendar after a nine-month-long renovation of the Rue Scribe space, which transformed the shop into a spacious three-storey shopping area designed to accommodate a large number of customers. The flagship store will also have an area dedicated to the personalisation of the clothing items of the UTme line, and will provide a stand for repairs and alterations, confirming Uniqlo's commitment to responsible shopping.
