July 6th, 2023
The news of Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst leaving the artistic direction of Chloé has just been released by the French brand. Her last show, reads the press release, will be on 28 September. Only a short time ago, it was announced that she might be leaving the brand in conjunction with her collaboration with Angelina Jolie and her brand Atelier Jolie, and while it is not yet known who will be the designer to take Hearst's place, Chemena Kamali, former designer for women's ready-to-wear at Saint Laurent, has been appointed to head a design studio parallel to that of Chloé.
Gabriela Hearst spent three years as the brand's creative director, and has made a name for herself in the industry thanks to her numerous projects launched in favour of the environment and sustainability. Her work with Chloé has focused heavily on improving the fashion house's production practices, officially becoming the first luxury brand in the world to achieve B Corp certification in 2021. In a press release, Chloé CEO Riccardo Bellini and Richemont Group CEO Philippe Fortunato showed their recognition for Hearst's work, confirming her merit in making Chloé an inspirational brand in the field of sustainable luxury fashion. «Gabriela brought great energy and a dynamic creative vision to her role at Chloé,» said Bellini, «contributing to a period of significant progress for the company and writing a powerful new chapter in the history of our Maison.»
