Balenciaga has conquered the red carpet at Cannes
Michelle Yeoh, Salma Hayek and Anok Yai all wore looks designed by Balenciaga to the Festival

These days, in front of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, the streets are covered with long red carpets packed with photographers. During the 76th edition of the most-watched film festival in the world, celebrities and actors are sporting some of the most elegant and opulent looks ever seen, selected from the latest Couture shows, from the archives of some historical Maisons, or tailor-made by brands. It is a unique chance for fashion houses to make their mark, and in the case of Balenciaga is an unmissable opportunity to return to the red carpets that matter.
Demonstrating Kering's support for the brand, the company's president and CEO François-Henri Pinault wore a simple look that nonetheless highlighted his complete support for Demna and his work, a custom-made tuxedo designed for his participation at the premiere of the film Killers of the Flower Moon. Among the artists who sported some looks from Balenciaga's latest Winter 23 collection were French actress Isabelle Huppert, in a high-necked black lace dress, Renata Litvinova, wrapped in the long cape of the Cave Dress in silk taffeta, and American model Alton Mason, in a double-breasted and corseted dress, gloves and sunglasses. The only one who sported a colorful Balenciaga dress was Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, star of Everything Everywhere All At Once, who was honored at the Festival at the Women in Motion Awards event sponsored by Kering. On the red carpet, Yeoh wore a long, bright green silk sheath dress, black gloves, a shawl, and a large Boucheron necklace. On her arrival in Cannes, she was photographed in a leather trench coat by Winter 23, and the mini version of the Hourglass bag in metallic silver, and then at the lifetime achievement award ceremony in another sheath dress, this time black and more structured, paired with long white gloves and a Boucheron diamond parure.
Also on the black carpet at the Kering Women in Motion Awards were many stars dressed by Balenciaga. After wearing the brand at the Met Gala on 1 May, Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti wore a lace and rhinestone Winter 23 dress; Mexican actress and Pinault's wife Salma Hayek wore another look from the collection, albeit more glittery and low-cut, while model and it-girl Anok Yai and actress Roh Yoon Seo wore a dress from the Haute Couture and Summer 23 collections respectively. Also in black was Isabelle Huppert, in a suit of jacket and trousers tailor-made for her, but inspired by Balenciaga's Haute Couture, and singer-songwriter Yseult, in a look from the House's Spring 23 line.
