J.W. Anderson opens his first boutique in Milan

The new must-visit address in the heart of the Quadrilateral

For Jonathan Anderson, the city of Milan is becoming a second home. Today the brand will open its second boutique in the world at 16 Via Sant'Andrea, in the heart of Milan's Fashion Quadrilateral, designed by 6a Architects, who had already signed JW Anderson's boutique in London's Soho district. For the store's aesthetics, inspiration came from the surrounding architecture and its exquisitely Milanese tones: aluminum shelves and displays, a neon sign on the facade, a handmade tiled marble floor in a blend of custom colors, and walnut fluted panels lining the two columns inside the store.

The décor is minimalist and Italian-inspired, with a touch of self-deprecation: the Cardinal Hat hanging lamp by Lutyens Furniture illuminates the main room, while the black Iklwa chair by Mac Collins and matching side tables by Benchmark Studio, with their commanding presence, recall the classic drawing room perbene of bon ton Milan. Two oil-on-canvas paintings by artist Hongyan on the walls, in delicate shades of green and gray, decorate the walls, accentuating the cozy, almost domestic feel of the space. In the dressing room, Wolfgang Tillmans' images create a contrast, reaffirming the stark juxtaposition as a hallmark of JW Anderson.
