Marni's new capsule collection is a vision in technicolour

For this summer, Marni has prepared a capsule collection under the banner of colour, supported by the multidisciplinary brand project Marni Jam. Together with No Vacancy Inn, the art collective founded by Tremaine Emory, Ade "Acyde" Odunlami and Brock Korsan, Marni took a journey through different media, exploring themes such as modern human relationships. Exclusive prints, patchwork details, flowing and fresh silhouettes; each garment in the collection - which includes ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories for men and women - suggests a hymn to the happiness and freedom felt during the hottest season of the year. The dresses feature marine subjects in conceptual graphics amidst stars and fish, while the crocheted tops and hot pants exude a bright, vintage air.

Swimsuits and beach dresses were joined by items designed for city life, such as hoodies, baggy jeans, denim overalls and bowling shirts, also painted with naturalistic elements typical of the tropical climate. The bags, a top accessory in Marni's heritage, reinterpret the brand's style codes with raffia weaves and fringes, for the Venice mini bucket bag and the Marcel, while the tote bags follow the graphic theme of beach towels. Crochet is also used in footwear, for the Fussbet gladiator sandals, and prints depicting clouds and birds cover the Dada Bumper sneakers. This summer capsule's accessory line could not forget to include hats and sunglasses, subject to hyper-saturated colours and trompe l'oeil effects.

The campaign celebrating this new creative partnership was shot in Accra by Ghanaian artist Derrick Ofosu Boateng, using the capital's evocative beaches as the perfect backdrop for a colourful collection. Boateng's imagery narrates through hue-ism some peculiar proverbs in bright colours, interweaving Ghana's deep historical heritage with the modernity of these designs with great media savvy, fully reflecting the newly born artistic vision of Marni Jam and No Vacancy Inn.
