According to MFF reports, Loro Piana's new consultant will be Paul Surridge, who has reportedly already been working with the LVMH brand for two weeks. Prior to this news, it was rumored that Phoebe Philo would hold such a position. For now, Surridge's role is expected to be about consulting since in a recent interview with an American publication, Loro Piana CEO Damien Bertrand stated that he did not consider it necessary to have a creative director. «Loro Piana has never really had one,» Bertrand explained.
Surridge was born in British Hertfordshire, and worked alongside Neil Barrett for Prada menswear after graduating in fashion design and marketing from London's Central Saint Martins College of Art. He was design director for Calvin Klein, has collaborated with Acne Studios and co-designed with Christopher Bailey for Burberry and Raf Simons for Jil Sander, and before taking over as head designer at Roberto Cavalli in 2017, he was creative director at Zegna. In 2022, he launched an exclusive project with the Mantuan brand Corneliani, whose main focuses were sustainability and the reinterpretation of classic menswear tailoring lines.
