Egonlab announces new collaboration with Gucci
As part of the Gucci Continuum project
March 17th, 2023
Last January, in Paris, the presence of several Gucci belts at Egonlab's Paris fashion show had aroused quite a bit of curiosity. Today, the brand headed by Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix revealed that that presence announced a collaboration with Gucci, as part of the Gucci Continuum project that brings the heritage of the Florentine fashion house into contact with the sensibilities of new emerging designers. The result is a capsule collection«utilizing the unused fabric and materials from Gucci’s rich past», as the two designers told Vogue. As part of the experimental project, many other designers were called upon to collaborate on special capsules with the brand including Hodakova, Rave Review, Alice Pons, Vans, Alpha Industries, Slam Jam, Call of the Void, DRx Romanelli, and Collina Strada.
The capsule includes a hand-dyed double-breasted tailored suit, a denim suit embroidered with the brand's archival jewelry, a leather bomber jacket, and two short-sleeved shirts. The idea behind this and the other capsules in the Continuum project is both to give new life to fabrics and materials unused by the brand or stored in its archives but also to take advantage of the interregnum preceding Sabato De Sarno's debut to set up a new model of serial collaborations existing in Gucci Vault's "alternative timeline," and thus separate from the brand's main line, which gives breath to its heritage and keeps communication channels open with the most innovative and exciting realities of the industry.
