MSCHF teases Nike x Tiffany & Co. collab
With a drop that meets the needs of Air Force 1 fans
March 1st, 2023
Ever since the first photos of the big red boots came out, MSCHF has been ruling the sneakerhead world, with 25 million views on TikTok, and a resale price significantly higher than their regular one ($350) of $1400. The self-ironic brand's latest drop, Super Normal 2, is far less flashy than the Astroboots, as the name suggests, and perhaps also hides an allusion to one of the most talked-about collaborations of recent months, the Nike x Tiffany & Co. Air Force 1s.
With a white base and details in mint and pastel pink, the Super Normal 2 is a reinterpretation of a model launched by MSCHF last year. Even then, when the brand released the shoe, social media was ablaze with criticism and jokes suggesting it clearly plagiarised Nike's Air Force 1. Considering the great resemblance to the silhouette of one of the world's best-selling trainers, and the choice to dye the soles and the tongue in turquoise, the Super Normal 2 could effectively be a reference to Nike x TIffany & Co., the collaboration that disappointed many given the unexpected choice to produce black Air Force 1s, and not white. Could MSCHF have decided, in a fit of generosity, to give Nike fans what they wanted?
