Dior Men artistic director Kim Jones has teamed up with Denim Tears founder and Supreme creative director Tremaine Emory to create the latest crossover between streetwear and luxury. The two designers have teamed up to create a capsule collection that will be unveiled tomorrow, 2 December, during a show at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo. «This line celebrates the inventiveness of Maison Dior and the strength of its creative dialogues,» Dior said in a statement.
Jones' previous guest designer was California-based Eli Russell Linnetz, founder of the Californian brand ERL. The two presented their capsule as part of the resort fashion show against the backdrop of the Los Angeles waterfront. Jones is no stranger to the world of collaborations - he has designed projects with the likes of Sacai, Kaws, and Daniel Arsham. As artistic director of Louis Vuitton for men, Jones was also responsible for the high-profile collaboration with Supreme in 2017. The new partnership with Emory shows that the relationship between streetwear and luxury is still alive and well, and that a community is hungry for something new. Emory, who has previously worked with Virgil Abloh and Kanye West, founded Denim Tears in 2019 and joined Supreme in February. His brand has also resorted to collaborations on several occasions: in 2020 Denim Tears partnered with Levi's and in 2022 with Ugg.
