Gucci will leave its store in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele to Bottega Veneta
And it will move to the larger location where Massimo Dutti is now located
October 24th, 2022
Change is underway at Milan's Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: by next spring, Bottega Veneta will occupy the three storefronts now occupied by Gucci. Instead, Gucci will move into the 956-square-meter space that the brand won in September last year with a 4.5 million-euro bid, which until 2021 was occupied by Massimo Dutti. To take over Gucci's space in the Galleria, Bottega Veneta has pledged to the city to pay double the rent currently paid by Gucci: from 575,000 paid annually by Gucci, to 1,150,000 euros paid by Bottega Veneta.
The "swap" between the two Kering brands took place because, according to City Council rules, the same brand cannot have more than one store in the Galleria (an exception would seem to be Prada, which owns its historic location in the center of the Galleria, in front of the other location dedicated to menswear on the opposite side) and signals a strong growth of Bottega Veneta, which for the first time will open a boutique in Milan's "good living room." Another novelty we will see happening soon in the Galleria will be Chanel's new concept store, which will expand its space by occupying the premises of the historic Cobianchi day hotel.
