LVMH Group says goodbye to its private jet Starting today, CEO Arnault will rent one when it's needed

Yesterday, during an interview with his son Antoine on Radio Classique, Bernard Arnault, CEO of the LVMH group, said that he has given up his private jet, which has been sold, and that as of today, when the need arises, he will rent one. The decision, however, would seem to have less to do with sustainability and more to do with the «confidentiality and security» of their travels after a series of Twitter accounts this summer began tracking the routes of French private flights, including Arnault's, to expose VIP waste and emissions.

According to what Antoine Arnault told journalist Guillaume Durand, the main concern arising from the public tracking of flights represented an infringement of corporate privacy considering how this information was shared with the public-including LVMH's competitors who could thus track the CEO's travels. Arnault's son pointed out that, whenever possible, top executives employ high-speed trains for their travels, limiting the use of the private jet only to those destinations that the train cannot reach.
