The Soul scene in the new Fred Perry x Raf Simons collection
North England fashion in a polo shirt, but not only that

The liaison between Fred Perry and Raf Simons is a kind of elective affinity that updates its aesthetic codes every year: the uniform and classic menswear are the narrative codes on which they both work. In the new FW22 Fred Perry x Raf Simons collection, the designer draws inspirations from the artwork of Peter Saville, music, and the style of New Order and Joy Division, triggering a reflection on the Soul scene between fashion, music, and multiculturalism. The stylistic and cultural references of North England, which have long fueled Raf Simons' inspirations, are the elements that characterize his eponymous collection and to which the designer directly refers to reinterpret Fred Perry garments.
The garments are total black, decorated with patches inspired by Soul record vinyl labels. Touches of light pink, light blue and white dilute patches and embroidery, which pick up on the record labels, artists and song titles designed as mood boards for this collection. In the new Fred Perry x Raf Simons collection, in addition to polo shirts, t-shirts and oversized sweatshirts, the outfit with denim jacket paired with brushed cotton twill pants is also included. Remodeling the Fred Perry DNA are outerwear items such as the Harrington jacket, made of cotton gabardine with boxy fit and printed patch graphics, and the unlined blazer with three-button closure, waist pockets and graphic print on the front. The statement piece of the collection is the parka featuring the iconic Fred Perry style made with epaulettes, drawstring waist, fishtail hem, shaped flap pockets and a large back print with multiple graphic patches.
