Balenciaga t-shirt to raise funds in support of Ukraine

After Russia invaded Ukraine, Demna was one of the first public figures in the fashion world to take sides and address the humanitarian crisis. «The war in Ukraine has unleashed the pain of a trauma that I have been carrying since 1993», the designer had written in a letter published on the sidelines of his FW22 fashion show. Balenciaga has signed a partnership with United24's Ukraine Fund, dedicated to restoring the country's infrastructure including hospitals, schools, and roads. Hence the decision to release a T-shirt to raise funds and awareness for the Rebuild Ukraine fund. 

One hundred percent of the net profits from sales of the T-shirt will be donated to the fund said Balenciaga in a statement to BOF. In Balenciaga's statement, Zelensky thanked Demna for her commitment to the Ukrainian cause. «It’s crucial that we keep the world’s focus on Ukraine to help rebuild our country», he said. Other figures selected for the initiative include American actor Liev Schreiber, pop group Imagine Dragons, former soccer player Andriy Shevchenko, and Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina.
