The partnership between JW Anderson and Tom of Finland Foundation reaches its third edition, presenting a ready-to-wear underwear and accessories collection for men. A merger that confirms the success of previous collaborations between the British luxury brand and the Tom of Finland Foundation in past years. The artist Tom of Finland, born Touko Laaksonen, was the author of homoerotic iconography that became iconic in postwar gay culture. Hence the establishment of the Tom of Finland Foundation, committed to the preservation of the Finnish artist's extensive catalog and a mission to educate the public to promote more tolerant attitudes toward sexuality.
Fascinated by the unfinished nature of Tom of Finland's sketchy designs, Jonathan Anderson decided to once again create a capsule colletction dedicated to celebrating homoerotic art: t-shirts, Oxford shirts, and a luxurious ecru melange hoodie trace the artist's imagery. The entire collection is inspired by low-volume silhouettes, even offering a sleeveless T-shirt in Lycra.Accessories, on the other hand, include small leather items such as including a passport case, a phone case, and other pieces such as a fanny pack and a Belt Tote XL. Completing the collection is the men's jockstrap, perfected after several months of experimentation.Designed with trademark JW Anderson, the provocative piece recalls "varsity-stripe" details and finely drawn figures that flex muscles.
