Gentle Monster and Moncler Genius explore digital culture
A new capsule with a dystopian allure
May 4th, 2022
Moncler Genius and the Gentle Monster brand collaborate for the first time on a collection that extends from eyewear to apparel, inspired by digital culture. Founded in Seoul in 2011 by Hankook Kim, Gentle Monster is a world-renowned eyewear brand that creates highly experimental and contemporary frames, and in this capsule marries Moncler's modern aesthetic in a highly successful union.
Digital culture inspires the collection, particularly the pervasive 'swiping' that denotes excitement, instant gratification and approval in the online world: the theme is present on everything from anoraks and jersey garments to oversized square sunglasses. Irresistible monochrome black dominates the clothing collection, creating a bold canvas, while details and silhouettes add refined drama to hooded down jackets, sleeveless jackets and shell jackets in nylon and recycled polyester, alongside technical tops and trousers, t-shirts and sweatshirts. Accessories include a selection of hoods made from recycled polyester, nylon bags and of course sunglasses.
To celebrate this unique partnership, Moncler and Gentle Monster will launch a pop-up space within Gentle Monster's Seoul HAUS concept store, where the blurring between reality and the digital world - navigated through the swipe - are represented in extraordinary physical and digital installations.
