The new collaborative sneaker by Salomon x Carhartt WIP
The next level of gorpcore
February 9th, 2022
From 2020 onwards, gorpcore is a trend that has never been exhausted – a kind of universe apart endowed with its references, its aesthetics and, above all, its brands. Two of them, Carhartt WIP and Salomon, recently collaborated on a collaborative version of Salomon's CSWP Shelter sneaker – one of the brand's most popular models as well as one of the staples of hiking. The new silhouette, out tomorrow, maintains the same technical construction as the original version but adopts a style that is close to that of Carhartt WIP. The release will be accompanied by a campaign and a video inspired by the subculture of graffiti and writers – who in the 80s began using Carhartt WIP's workwear for its hyper-functional qualities.
The new collaborative version of the CSWP therefore maintains characteristics such as absolute impermeability, thermal insulation and grip on the ground, while the main changes take place on the color palette. The colorway features a tonal interaction of navy, thyme, gray and sand, combined with discreet branding. The sneaker also includes printed insoles that reinterpret the classic camouflage pattern of the Indonesian vine but also ripstop material inserts on the upper in homage to the tradition of Carhartt WIP.
