For the AW22 collection, entitled "Le Monde Diplomatique", Casablanca pays homage to the theme of travel and to Paris, the chosen destination for diplomats. Taking inspiration from the city synonymous with aesthetic excess and innovation, the classic design codes underlying the brand's aesthetic are subverted by dynamic silhouettes. The collection also marks the launch of Casablanca's first sneaker, titled 'Atlantis', featuring a unique shape inspired by ocean lines and classic sculpture.
In the campaign video with actress
Emma Mackey, the boldness and altitude of the journey, as well as the language of Paris' architectural design, are celebrated through iconic locations, such as
Le Bourget airport, Le Train Bleu restaurant and
la Maison Darre - an overview of the city between classicism and contemporaneity. Tailored items are enriched with preppy prints and wide-brimmed hats, oversized glasses, western boots in a perfect combination that well represents contemporary luxury and at the same time teleports us to the 70s. The silk garments characteristic of Casablanca are enriched with aeronautical prints in the
French tricolor, which run through the entire collection, culminating in quilted satin outerwear, the highlight of the collection. Hand-embroidered elements such as pearls, crystals, sequins, feathers and beads can be seen on twin-sets, knitwear, dresses and tailoring, representing the nuanced night sky as seen from an airplane window.
Blue and gold accents echo the romance of
Parisian luxury hotels, taking the form of embroidered wool capes, dresses and sweaters. Much like the subtlety and grace of diplomatic relations, Casablanca honors the poetry that surrounds us but is rarely perceived.
