JW Anderson canceled tis physical show for Milan Fashion Week
In its place there will be a digital fashion show
January 10th, 2022
The arrival of JW Anderson at Milan Fashion Week was one of the most anticipated of the season, the signal of the renewed importance of Milan on the map of international fashion. But if what is about to start in Milan seemed to finally be the season of restart, the new pandemic wave has been matched by a wave of cancellations. This morning the brand announced that the FW22 show in Milan has been canceled and will instead be held in the form of a digital fashion show through the channels of the Camera della Moda next Sunday, January 16th. The brand has however confirmed its presence in Milan for the summer fashion week next June with an in-person show.
The official reasons for the cancellation are the «recent logistical and travel difficulties» due to the new wave of coronavirus that has hit Italy, causing problems in factories, but also leading some brands to cancel events for both Pitti Immagine Uomo and Milan Fashion Week. At the moment, Giorgio Armani and JW Anderson are the only two brands to have communicated official cancellations, not least others could follow. Given that thanks to vaccinations and Green Pass there should be no danger of participating in physical shows, the greatest difficulty seems to lie in the logistical organization of the shows and in the many travel restrictions that buyers and press are facing.
