Will Nike start selling digital sneakers?
The brand would file the application to sell digital apparel
November 2nd, 2021
If the idea of a Metaverse seems more and more possible after the announcement of Mark Zuckerberg and Meta, also brands seem not to want to waste time adapting to what could be a necessary change of course from now to the next months. According to Josh Gerben, a lawyer specialized in trademarks, a few days ago Nike filed an application to use some of the company's properties such as Just Do It and the logo for the sale of digital sneakers and clothing.

On October 27th the company filed new trademark applications for NIKE, JUST DO IT and the swoosh logo.

The news seems to be linked to two trends seen in recent months such as the NFT and the Metaverse. Nike would therefore be ready to launch into the world of virtual fashion, bringing sneakers and apparel in a new dimension but leaving a halo of mystery about how these will apply to realities such as Meta.
Obviously Nike is not the first brand to launch itself into the world of digital fashion, tracing a trend that is increasingly present in the fashion world. Only a short time ago Dolce & Gabbana first and then Jimmy Choo explored the reality of NFT trying to adapt to the change of course of the fashion system, increasingly oriented towards a partial digitalization.
