JW Anderson presents his first line of sneakers
A new deconstructed silhouette that combines leather with canvas
May 20th, 2021
After years of successful sneaker collaboration, JW Anderson today announced the launch of the brand's first in-house sneaker. The official debut of the new sneaker took place last January, within the brand's FW21 and Pre-Fall 2021 lookbooks taken by Juergen Teller. The creation of this line of sneakers is an important step in the expansion and definition of its brand identity by Jonathan Anderson, who commented on the release as follows:
«At JW Anderson we've always looked at an idea of deconstruction and enlargement of proportions. Through the development process developed together with our design team, we have created a new shoe that represents a turning point compared to tradition. I like to think of it as an abstraction of a traditional sneaker but with exaggerated volumes».
In full JW Anderson style, the design of the sneaker represents a deconstruction, both material and conceptual, of the traditional concept of footwear. An idea communicated through raw and artisanal touches such as untreated material, intense color blocking and the alternation of leather and canvas mediated by rough stitching and artisan flavor. The thick rubber sole is instead a self-engraving to the famous model of Stacked Brogue, one of the first footwear models created by Anderson at the beginning of his career and brand. The JW Anderson sneaker will be available in purple, green, orange, black on black, white on white, brown and white with rubber sole.
