Valentino to go fur free and to close the RED line
As part of the brand's new business model
May 20th, 2021
Although the lockdown hasn't changed the dynamics of fashion in the way the industry had prospected, an evolution still took place. Many brands (as well as many luxury mega-groups) are simplifying their operations and cutting excess. The last brand to redefine its business model is Valentino, which has announced an operation to redefine its positioning that will pass through the discontinuation of furs starting from 2022 and the closure of the REDValentino secondary line starting from 2024.
Creativity and craftsmanship will therefore become the springboard for a renewed commitment of the brand towards the definition of a new set of sustainable targets. Jacopo Venturini, CEO of the brand, explained in this way the simplification of the brand's production lines: "The concentration on one, and only one brand, will better support a more organic growth of the Maison". The Valentino Polar fur company, based in Milan and owned by the Piazza Mignanelli brand from 2018, will conclude productivity at the end of 2021. The latest collection to include fur will be fall/winter 2021-22.
