Gucci and Balenciaga are about to collaborate?
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the brand designed by Alessandro Michele

In the last few hours, there have been more and more rumours within the fashion industry regarding an alleged collaboration between Gucci and Balenciaga on the occasion of Gucci Aria, the new collection designed by Alessandro Michele that will debut on Thursday, April 15, marking, among other things, the 100th anniversary of the brand. The collection should follow a streetwear inspiration and drive the brand's relaunch strategy after a critical year such as 2020 and that will include a new focus on bags and a «growing assortment of higher-end products to a more local customer base» as François-Henri Pinault, president and CEO of the Kering Group, which owns both brands, told Vogue Business.
Also according to the rumours, for now not confirmed, Alessandro Michele and Demna Gvasalia might be working on a series of items, which will be unveiled in a short film, that will feature the double branding of Gucci and Balenciaga. The initiative is expected to inaugurate a series of collaborations (as well as about 150 events) that will involve Gucci in the upcoming months on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the brand.
