Dover Street Market to open a new store in Paris
It will be called 'Little Market' and will stock the work of seven designers
February 24th, 2021
In a pandemic year that has rewritten the rules of retailing, not only leading many department stores to close the doors of historic locations but also leading the fashion industry to question the future of physical stores and e-commerce, Dover Street Market seems to be going against the trend.
The concept store owned by Comme des Garçons is preparing to open a new space in the city of Paris. The new space, which will be called Little Market, will host the work of seven designers, all part of the brand development division of Rei Kawakubo's brand. Among these standout Honey Fuckin Dijon, ERL, Vaquera, Paccbet, and Youths in Balaclava. The store will open its doors on February 27th and will be located in Rue du Faubourg St. Honoré, where Comme des Garçons' Trading Museum Paris was previously located, a sort of hybrid between museum and store.
Dover Street Market opened its first Parisian location in 2019, with a space dedicated to beauty and fragrances located in the Marais.
The retailer has never hidden the desire to expand further in the French capital, especially following the closure of Colette in 2017, but the search for the right space took time. Little Market, therefore, confirms DSM's desire to continue growth based on territorial presence, which after the opening of the space in Los Angeles, returned to Europe.
