The creative multiverse of Brain Dead's SS21 collection
Workwear aesthetic meets sci-fi innovation
February 23rd, 2021
The cross-dimensional journey is the new obsession of sci-fi cinema – a genre that has always influenced a culturally omnivorous brand such as Brain Dead that unveils now the first drop of its SS21 collection. Portrayed in the shots of Luca Grottoli, in a laboratory full of photobioreactors that aim at being the very symbol of sci-fi innovation, the collection is based on a workwear aesthetic featuring its classic space-age style variations on classic silhouettes.
Artistic embroidery, 3D prints and fluid panelling distinguish the garments part of the collection; with a fine of work on layering, that contrasts different colours and textures of fabric creating depths of detail as well as a series of very disparate quotes and references. The fit, however, remains at the centre of the research process with the clear will of the creative team to create an high everyday-wear that goes beyond the classic basic garment while maintaining an intimate balance with its own chaotic energy.
