Acne Studios' new capsule collection inspired by graffiti art
“Welcome to Stockholm”

The multidisciplinary approach that distinguishes a brand such as Acne Studios, usually associated with the world of high-concept design, has always been open even to more ephemeral and less structured artistic manifestations of the art that appears in galleries. The last capsule of the brand, entitled Welcome to Stockholm, is just like this: it wants to evoke contemporary graffiti that decorates the walls of the city more than institutional street art, a celebration of the spontaneous and rapid creation of the young inhabitants of the metropolis. This land-to-ground attitude that defines the capsule was perfectly represented in Anders Edstrom's lookbook, which set his shots in the port district of Frihamnen, in the Swedish capital.
The protagonists of the capsule's graphics are the graffiti-style depictions of a "City Rat", "Beat Cat" and "Underground Bear", printed on the fabric with a particular effect that creates the illusion of a still-fresh paint. Prints appear on a range of garments such as long-sleeved mesh tops, t-shirts and jersey sweatshirts, as well as accessories that include oversized scarves and tote. The colour palette consists of plaster and lilac for "City Rat", blue for "Beat Cat" and brick red and chartreuse for "Underground Bear".
