Dior's SS21 campaign in collaboration with Amoako Boafo
The Ghanaian artist's vibrant colors and Kim Jones aesthetic together again
February 4th, 2021
Dior's collaboration with Ghanaian painter Amoako Boafo was perhaps one of the best artistic partnerships of last season SS21 – although in the chaos of early digital presentations perhaps it was not easy to appreciate it in all its extraordinary details. Dior's SS21 campaign, therefore, shot by Rafael Pavarotti, is a perfect time to experience it all again – all the more so since it is perhaps the most beautiful and successful campaign of Kim Jones' Dior.
To recreate Boafo's works on clothes, Jones chose the series of portraits named Black Diaspora by the artist, adopting its vibrant colors also for the photos of the campaign. Along with the clothes from the collection, the campaign also showcases Yoon Ahn's jewelry, Stephen Jones hats and the brand's leather goods.
