Outerwear pieces inspired by technical sailing apparel

Over the last few seasons, and even more so in those to come, brands' archive will become a fundamental asset for the growth and further definition of a brand's identity. Helly Hansen, the brand founded in 1877 in Norway, has always skilfully mixed its vocation towards innovation with the influence of its rich past, giving life to unique collections, such as the brand's latest proposal, dedicated to the FW21 season.
The HH-118389225 collection draws inspiration from Helly Hansen’s one hundred and forty-year history in technical sailing apparel and in particular the “ÆGIR” Offshore Collection that was created to outfit sailors competing on the open oceans racing around the world. The Ocean Race is often described as the longest and toughest professional team sporting event there is, and the next edition starts Oct 2022, in which Helly Hansen will be the official clothing supplier. Utilising the core components, professional-grade fabrications and technologies seen in the “ÆGIR” Offshore Collection as a springboard, Helly Hansen has created a collection of modular products that are integrated and designed to be worn together in the most testing cold water conditions. But served up with a more refined visual aesthetic and colour palette, suited more to the current urban cross over the ecosystem. Details such as 3-layer shell technology, ultrasonic taped seams, 3M reflective detailing, modular interchangeable spray hoods that attach to multiple key styles, are all used to great effect across the range. The basics within the collection continue the modular theme with zippers that can accommodate the interchangeable spray hoods from the outerwear, allowing great flexibility to the wearer dependent on what conditions they are facing. The brand also continues its iconic Reversable Puffa program seen in previous collections with adaptability at its core. These jackets can not only be worn 2 ways but also feature zipper docking for the collection’s range of modular spray hoods.
