The Copenhagen Fashion Week goes full digital
After the Danish government's halt to all physical events
January 5th, 2021
The last edition of the Copenhagen Fashion Week, held in the middle of August, had appeared all over the world as a rare moment of normality: physical events had not been interrupted and a good number of participants were present at the entrance and exit of the shows – business as usual in a year that had nothing of usual. But with the threat of a third wave of Covid-19 worrying Europe, the Danish government has banned all forms of physical events, which is why the Fashion Week that was supposed to take place between February 2 and 4 will be exclusively digital, hosted on a platform presented last August.
The ban applies not only to the Fashion Week but also to a number of industry fairs such as Ciff, Revolver, Dansk Fashion & Textile and Wear. Cecilie Thorsmark, director of Copenhagen Fashion Week, stated:
Even though it is definitely unwished-for, it is undeniably the right thing to do, and instead we look forward to being able to meet physically again for the August 2021 fashion week.
The schedule of digital presentations, which include brands such as Ganni, Rotate Birger Christensen, Soulland and Rains, will be presented in the coming days.
